HERR Execs Optimistic after Tour of Mexico with PA's Governor Ridge
June 30, 1999

Executives from HERR who accompanied Governor Ridge on a Trade Mission to Mexico, are back, excited about the opportunities south of the border. Timothy Herr, President, and Kent Kise, Chief Operating Officer for the Contractor, say the trip was well planned and productive, providing HERR with at least one opportunity to bid on a system (against an Italian competitor ).

Monterrey, the principal destination of the mission, is a major Mexican industrial and banking center that lies in the Northeast section of the country. The region is 145 miles south of the Texas border, is roughly the size of West Virginia, and has a population of 3.9 million.

"Team PA", as the Governor's Mission planners have been named, briefed the HERR Trade delegates, then informed them of general arrangements for the trip.  Team PA also supplied an itinerary for HERR Industrial Inc. to meet with 12 pre-selected business prospects. Herr and Kise were presented with 25 U.S. companies that are setting up divisions to do business in Monterrey.

"The highlight of the trip" said Kise, "was our visit and tour of the General Electric Electrical Distribution and Control facility," where HERR installed a paint system for GE in 1998. Accompanying Herr and Kise on the tour were Sam McCullough, Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development for Pennsylvania, Joseph Burke, Director Americas Group, and Monica Castorela, Market Research & Awareness Latin America Operations,  and C.P. Carlos Zambrano, Secretary of Economic Development for Nuevo Leon. "Tim gave the tour, so we got the $50 version, " said Kise.

Other events included an evening reception hosted by Nuevo Leon's Governor Canales at the Palacio de Goblerno, in Monterrey. During another stop in Mexico City, the Nation's capital, Team PA was entertained by the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Jeffrey Davidow and his wife Jane, at a reception held at the Governor's Residence.
