Scope of Work

As part of a detailed specification, the design basis for a paint system serves as the introduction of the project, presents the contractor with the goals and background, and provides a general description of the equipment and services the contractor is required to supply.

The design basis is illustrated by what HERR calls:

The Five P's:  Product, Production, Paint, Process, and Plant

When establishing specifications, not only should existing operations be examined but flexibility must be included to allow expansion and adaptation to future changes.

The Five P's were developed from an article published in Powder Coating magazine, written by Chris Herr, Product Line Manager for HERR.
